Wednesday. Mariam and Ulises went early to work the lunch shift, Karen and I hung out in the lounge. I made Ulises another bracelet...an anklet, because he had been asking for one. So about 12:30pm, we leave the lounge and head to lunch.
I was so excited, because we were going to have Chick-Fil-A, one of my favorite things to eat. So Karen and I arrive in the caf...only to find out they had stopped serving at 12:30pm. But Mariam, bless her heart, saved two sandwiches, just for us.
I could just cry, right there (I didn't of course...). Mariam also informed us that she had received a package from her daughter, but she promised to wait to open it until Karen and I both could be with her. So Karen chooses a table for us, and we sit down and eat.
It was delicious. I love Chick-Fil-A. Rachel L is also in the caf, sitting with Andrew and Jamie Rose (an intern). Mitchell comes up to me and asks if I can make him a bracelet, and as I am writing down the colors he wants, Rachel L is shouting at me from the other side of the caf to go see her.
Suddenly everyone wanted my attention. So I finish taking Mitchell's order, and I go over to Rachel. She informs me that Jamie Rose would like a bracelet. So I sit down with Jamie Rose, and I help her decide on two colors, after going through numerous pictures and decisions.
Karen comes up to me and says she will be in the Prayer Room, so I decide just to sit with Andrew, Jamie Rose, and Rachel. Andrew leaves to go back to work or something. Ulises comes up out of nowhere, and I show him his anklet. His eyes got wide. "Thank you, Me-kyla! Really!"
He seemed pretty surprised. And then he informs me he has a cold sore. I happen to have some chaptstick with me, so I let him have some. And then he goes and mops the caf. Karen comes back from the Prayer Room and sits with Rachel, Jamie Rose, and I.
Karen and I were waiting for 3 o'clock to roll around to report to work, but then Isaac informs us we don't need to be back until 4-4:30ish, so Karen and I decide to go back to the lounge. We wait for Mariam, and all walk back together. It is raining out...I love rain so much...anyway, so we are walking in the rain.
And since Karen has a waterproof case on her phone, we decide to take a picture in the rain. We get to the dorm, and I video the whole thing. Mariam opens up her package, and finds candy, snacks, and a beautiful picture frame filled with pictures of her family.
So after that is finished, we decide to go to the lounge until 3:50ish. Karen and I leave early, and spot the Cici's van by the sac. We knew the caf was supposed to have pizza, and the sac was closed down, so the van was (obviously) in the wrong place. So we walk up to the van.
The guy was on his phone trying to get hold of his boss to figure out exactly where he needed to go. So he rolls his window down, and Karen and I explain to him where he needs to go. Karen and I walk, and we meet him by the caf.
He parks, and we unload the pizza. I had done this so many times in the sac, I could do it in my sleep. We take the pizza out of the bags, sort the pizza by the type it is, stuff bags into other bags, put the pizza in the warmers, and wait. For plates, we tore up paper towels.
At about 5:00pm, Isaac lets us eat dinner, because dinner actually doesn't get served until 5:30. Karen and I are sitting in the caf, and Mariam, Priscilla, Christa, and Philip walk into the caf, spot us, and join us. They were a tad bit annoyed because neither Karen nor I had explained to them that dinner would be served at 5:30 instead of 5.
Philip ate my crusts because he was "really hungry". After we finished serving dinner, and cleaned up, Karen and I were allowed to take the leftover pizzas "back home to our family". We thought it would be funny to prank them, so Karen grabbed an empty pizza box.
We left the full pizza boxes outside, and brought the empty one inside. Everyone was so excited. They gathered around us, and Philip had the honor of opening it...only to find out, there was no pizza. They were annoyed. At us. At the empty box.
So Karen left and brought in the full pizza boxes, and we were again in everybody's good graces. I left and went to call my mom. I was on the phone with her for about an hour. When I came back to the lounge, no one was inside. I thought that was weird, but I honestly didn't know where to search for them, so I just sat and made a bracelet.
Slowly, group by group, they come back. Apparently they went to the ropes course to check it out, found a few water bottles that campers had left, and came back. So we all hung out for a little bit, and then Priscilla comes in and announces that there's a basketball game in the sac.
The interns vs. the staff. Almost everybody left to go check it out. I stayed. And so did Mariam and Karen. Kaylah also stayed. She and a bunch of her friends were sitting by the t.v. watching Wall-E. Philip came back a bit early. And then Kaylah and her friends decided they wanted to go to Sonic.
There was a drink I was really wanting to try out, so I gave Kaylah $2 and ask her to buy it for me. Philip gives her $5 so she can buy him an Oreo milkshake. So she leaves. I am waiting patiently for my drink. I was so excited!! I make bracelets to pass the time.
And then she comes back. With one cup in her hands. For Philip. Apparently Sonic was out of my drink, claiming it was only seasonal. Whatever. So Kaylah hands me back my money. I was frustrated and annoyed, and she handed me an empty bottle to throw across the room.
It helped. So she and her friends go and sit back by the t.v. again. Philip was taking sips of his drink, and hands the drink to me, claiming he couldn't drink the whole thing anyway. So I take some. It was oh so good. I gave it back to him, and then Mariam took some.
We all shared his Oreo milkshake. Thank you Philip. That hit the spot. Mariam pulls up the PhotoBooth on her mac, and we all take some pictures. Philip claims he is tired, and wants to go to bed, but he didn't want to be in his dorm all by himself. So he took a blanket, and laid down on the floor and slept for a little bit.
Mariam decided she wanted to go to sleep, so she leaves the couch, takes all of her things with her, and leaves. Philip takes her spot, and settles in for a winter nap. People are beginning to come back from the basketball game, and they all look at Philip and shake their head.
Caleb and Ulises come and hang out, Ulises is trying to finish the bracelet he is making, and Caleb is on his phone. Then we all get the brilliant idea to prank Philip. Karen runs to the dorm, and comes back...with nail polish. Caleb does the deed. He paints Philip's nails.
And then Karen writes on his leg, "I'm sexy and I know it". Ulises, after experiencing the pain of pulling duct tape of off his own leg, decides to put some on Philip's leg. Poor Philip. We are all laughing, and he wakes up. He thinks something is suspicious, but he isn't sure quite what.
And then he finds the writing. He thinks it is funny, and shrugs it off. So after several moments of playing with his hands, Karen asks if she can borrow some of that nail polish. He is clearly confused. What nail polish? "You know, the one on your nails," Karen said.
Philip looks at his nails and laughs. "What the heck?!" He said. But when we explained to him that we had no nail polish remover, and he needed to buy some at Walmart, he got annoyed. "Why would you do that?" Because we thought it was funny. He found the duct tape too, and laughed again.
So Ulises asked him, "You have pink nails, and 'I'm sexy and I know it' on your leg. What does this mean?" Philip looks at him, and replies, "Well, I guess I'm gay, dude." Ulises then moves his chair a few inches away from Philip. We all laughed.
Caleb had gone to bed before Philip had woken up, so someone spilled the beans and let Philip know who did his nails. Philip wants revenge, so he and Ulises (Ulises is the camera man) go into the guy's dorm, and paint Caleb's nails.
They come back to the lounge, and watch the video with us. And then Karen and I decide to go to bed, since it is pretty late.
